Vows & Vestition

Clothing of St. Hyacinth

Throughout the Order, the last month has been a time of first professions of vows and new novices.  In addition to our the newly professed and clothed brothers of the Province of St. Joseph, other Dominicans have announced some of their own:

The Irish Province celebrated the Solemn Vows of one of their brothers.  In addition, they recently accepted three men into their novitiate.  The Irish Province has also put together a very nice new webpage.

On September 22, the friars in the English province also received three new novices at their priory in Blackfriars, Cambridge.  On the same day, two of their men took their first vows as friars preachers.  Our Fr. John Corbett, OP, was asked to be the preacher for the Priory leading up to profession and vestition.

Back in the States, in the Province of the Most Holy Name of Jesus (Western Province), their three novices made first profession of vows.  In addition, four men were received into the novitiate for the 2007-2008 year.

On August 19, our brothers in the Province of St. Martin de Porres (Southern Province) clothed five men in the habit of St. Dominic.

Finally, the friars of the Albertus Magnus Province (Central Province) recently had two men profess simple vows.

Congratulations to all our brothers!
