All Souls Day Cemetary Visit
November 12th, 2007 by Fr. Pius, OP

Every year following the feast of Dominican All Souls (Nov 8), the day on which we pray for the deceased brothers and sisters of the Order of Friars Preachers, the brothers make a trip to Mt. Olivet Cemetary in Washington, DC. Mt. Olivet is the burial place for the friars who have died while assigned to the priories here in Washington. Below is a short collection of pictures from our trip there this past Sunday. The music accompanying the photos is the traditional Hymn for the Office of All Souls, the Dies Irae, as sung by the friars of the Province of Poland.
Requiem aeternam dona eis, Domine; et lux perpetua luceat eis. Te decet hymnus, Deus, in Sion; et tibi redettur votum in Jerusalem: exaudi orationem mean; ad te omnis caro veniet. (From the Introit for the Feast of All Souls).
