New Book by Fr. John Vidmar, O.P.

Fr. John Vidmar, O.P., an associate professor of theology at Providence College and the archivist for our province, has written a new book on Dominican Spirituality. It is called Praying With the Dominicans: To Praise, To Bless, To Preach.
The book contains a wealth of Dominican blessings and prayers, as well as brief reflections on Dominican life, spirituality, and preaching from Dominican brothers and sisters from every age of the Order’s history. Fr. Vidmar also provides suggestions for further reading for those who would like to explore Dominican spirituality in more depth. As Fr. Vidmar writes in the Introduction:
This book is an attempt to share the wealth of Dominican prayer and reflection over the last eight hundred years. What St. Dominic envisioned in 1200 still has relevance for the church today–not only for the men and women who are members of the Order, but also for teh average Christian seeking to find his or her way to the tremendous richness of Jesus Christ.
This book will be a very helpful tool for anyone discerning a Dominican vocation.
