Missionaries of the Eucharist meet at March for Life
January 23rd, 2009 by Father Bill Garrott, OP

Pictured above during the 2009 March for Life are the Missionaries of the Eucharist, a lay organization seeking to spread Pope John Paul II’s theology of the body. Br. Peter Martyr Joseph Yungwirth, O.P., (front, left) helped to co-found the organization, which is mainly comprised of college students and which has an annual summer walk from Maine to Washington, D.C., where the Missionaries spread the Theology of the Body and Gospel of Life on the streets throughout the Northeast US.
The Missionaries of the Eucharist have had a long connection with the Dominicans. For years, the friars would give lectures during their summer ministry training, and Sr. Maria Teresa of the Sacred Heart of Dominican Monastery of Our Lady of the Rosary in Summit, NJ is another alumni. Another of the current members is an aspirant with the new Dominican monastery in Linden, VA.
Also pictured among the group are three more Missionaries of the Eucharist alumni, novice Sr. Talitha Guadalupe and postulants Anne Marie Schmidt and Maeve O’Doherty of the Sisters of Life. Anne Marie Schmidt was a parishioner of St. Gertrude’s in Cincinnati before she entered the Sisters of Life.
