“What Should a Dominican Education be Nowadays?”
September 26th, 2009 by Br. Peter Martyr Joseph Yungwirth, O.P.

With all the walls of the aula opened at the Academic Center of the Dominican House of Studies, Dr. Alasdair MacIntyre gave the honorary lecture opening the Thomistic Circles series this past Thursday. The crowd was bursting at the seams, and it hung on his every word.
Dr. MacIntyre was originally going to give a talk titled “What Should a Philosophical Education be Nowadays?”. However, since that talk would have been an attempt to prove the importance of the teachings of St. Thomas Aquinas to Dominican Friars who already appreciate St. Thomas Aquinas, he modified the text to be slightly more relevant to his audience. Thus, he spoke about what a specifically Dominican education should be. Here are a number of pictures taken at the event.
With the success of this talk, there is great hope for the future of the Thomistic Circles. The next event is a theological conference on October 16-17 titled: “Thomism and the Renewal of Contemporary Theology.”
