The relics of St. Mary Magdalene, on tour in the United States for the first time, recently came to Washington, DC.  On November 8, 2009, they were exposed for public veneration at the Dominican House of Studies where nearly 1000 faithful came to venerate the relics of the disciple of the Lord.

The relics were brought over by one of the Dominicans of the Toulouse Province, which staffs the shrine of St. Mary Magdalene.  The connection with the Dominicans comes from the fact that Mary Magdalene was chosen as a patroness of the Dominican Order since she proclaimed the Resurrection to the Apostles and was thus given the title, “Apostle of the Apostles.”

St. Mary Magdalene, Apostle of the Apostles, Patroness of the Order of Friars Preachers, pray for us.
